My Team My Happiness
After joining in one of the top telecommunication companies of the world, I had the chance to work in one of the best team environments. This article shares one of my happiness that has made me stay in North India from past six years even though everyone have an interest to move to south India.
When I joined as a fresher six years back, we had a three month training which nurtured our skills related to telecommunications and C Language. There were a batch of 40 students per class and we need to get 75% training in the exams. All my batch was from South India who came from different parts of Karnataka, Andhra and Chennai. Since our company has branches in Bangalore and Chennai, most of them were college recruits and came here for training. Training was much tougher as it was recession time and only 75% will get into the company after training.
We used to stay in training halls for almost 12 hours spending time learning from each other. Even though everyone knows that only 75% people will be qualified, there was huge team bonding in the training team. Everyone used to help each other which was one good thing we learnt from our training. Finally when results came out, it was very hard to get departed from people who couldn’t qualify just for 1%. But there were strict rules and people had to leave. Even though we are from south, We had to settle in main branch as there were very less projects that were newly coming at that time.
I have to say my first team is the best team which helped in settling myself as a software engineer. In a place where we don’t know anyone, this team brought me happiness and care by helping me in every aspect. Being a south Indian, I didn’t have knowledge of Hindi and how to mingle with people from other part of India. But the way, my team made me one of them and the way they helped me in my career is one thing I will remember for my entire life. Staying away from my home, I found happiness spending time in office with colleagues and learning new things from them.
Because of them, I understood the importance of team bonding and why it is important to have a friendly and co-operative team that will bring success in your software engineer career. Due to them, I was successful in going for 5 onsite opportunities and mingling with top telecommunication clients. So it’s upto me to spread happiness and care for my team when I became technical leader.
